Art should be part of everyone's education

OPINION

“Success can be more than owning a second home by the beach,” Actress Phylicia Rashad said. Most schools try to gear their students to go to college or join the military, but some students want to pursue the fine arts.

There are two reasons why students should have more fine art classes; they create jobs students don’t know about and they can bring out the creative side of someone or help relieve stress.

There are also many studies saying that students that take fine arts perform better in reading, math, and writing and it allows students to connect to the larger world around them.

Students who take fine arts classes have more opportunities for newer jobs that others may not have the opportunities for. There are so many different types of jobs people can get in the fine arts. Some examples are director, painter, creative writers, and film sound editors.

Bruno S. Frey from the Wall Street Journal says, “Of all arts professions, fine artists, writers and composers were found to be the happiest, because the profession they have chosen gives them autonomy, and that makes them happy.”

People in the artist department in fine arts make on average $53,400 a year and filmmakers make around average $112,00 a year. People who haven’t dipped their toe in the fine arts department don’t know the many opportunities for jobs and new careers not many people have.
Fine art classes can bring out the creativity in people. Everyone has their own way of showing creativity and being in an arts class can definitely bring that out in a person. Art deals with getting a problem and creating a piece of art with it.

In order to get more people to go into fine art classes we could provide examples in what they would do in the class, like paint, draw, create videos, or write scripts. People like to know what they are going to do before they commit to it.

Providing the students with examples will make them want to be better than the example as they care on in the class. Fine art classes also help students with their academics.
“Fine arts are also those courses that can create balance for many students when faced with academic challenges,” Margaret Roberson said.

There are many studies that say students in fine art classes are better in academics compared to students who are aren’t.

An Artsedge article says, “The arts can encourage and motivate kids in all aspects of their school lives, including teaching academic skills. Some of those subjects that improve in are reading, mathematics, and the SAT.¨

An article from Scientific learning say’s, “Learning to read music and understand concepts like time, rhythm, and pitch have a direct effect on a child’s ability to comprehend math skills.”

Being able to create things and being able to come up with ideas could help students in English when writing a paper or creating a story. Being able to focus on one project and stay committed to finish will help students in school as well. Being in a fine arts class will improve a student's academics and will help them to be disciplined in class.

Another thing we could do is encourage the student's parent´s to get their kids to take art to see how they like it. The parents can also incorporate the arts into their home like having an art night or providing material for their kids to create art for around the house.

In order to fix this problem we would have to show the students how important the arts are. The arts can bring out the best in people, and it can help people by doing art for therapy. Another thing is to show the students how the art can help them in academics and make them a more creative person.

Art is a great thing and students should realize that it makes students a creative person and helps them in your academics. It also helps express themselves in a great way and it also gives the students more choices when choosing a career. They even may develop a new hobby like painting, drawing, acting, or creating videos.
