BLYTHEWOOD-- The Blythewood High School Robotics Team, the "Metalheads," traveled to Myrtle Beach, February 25 -28, to compete in the FIRST Robotics Competition.
From a robot standpoint, the team did extremely well. Competing against 66 other teams from all across the US, the team achieved a top ranking of 24th out of 66, but by the end of the competition, they finished at 38th.
The team also totally wowed out the judges with their spirit and extraordinary enthusiasm toward FRC objectives.
The three Blythewood High "Morph Men," Sam Erard, Chukwudi Nwajiaku and Ben Alexander, totally rocked out the entire coliseum of people for three days, capturing the attention of not only of the judges but also news cameras and even local companies.
While they lost the coveted Spirit Award by a hair and didn't make it to the finals, the Blythewood team and robot made such a positive and strong impression at the competition that they had three major companies come to them with offers of mentorships and sponsorships for next year - which in "robot world" is huge.
The Metalheads' robot was completely student-designed, student-built, and student-engineered.
Bengal Nation is proud of their accomplishments and could not be more proud of this team.
Team Members are: Ben Alexander, Ally Bergren (secretary), Caila Buckhaults,
