American Dream varies for all

BY DONOVAN WASHINGTON, Freshman
BLYTHEWOOD-- People have different ideas when it comes to what the modern day American Dream should be.

Possibility anything is possible,” James Gandy Intro to Engineering/ football coach said as the first thing that comes to mind when he hears The American Dream.

Some people don’t feel as if there should be one perception of the American Dream.

“The American Dream should not exist. Not everyone will be happy if there is just one American Dream,” freshman Aneecia Owens said.

But each person has to find their own American Dream before they can have a perspective.

“Some people have lost the way to The American Dream,” freshman Adam Bearden said.

They lost the way to The American Dream by “Restricting ourselves to the media,”Gandy said.

But most haven't lost the way to The American Dream.

The phrase “The American Dream” was coined by James Truslow Adams in 1931. Originally it had nothing to do with material success or wealth but rather it dealt
with core values of freedom, liberty, and opportunity,” nscblog stated.

But to today there are many different American Dreams.

“To be rich and famous,” Bearden said as his American Dream.

Not every American Dream deals with being rich.

“To live free pursue your dream be successful,” Gandy said.

Our founding fathers came up with the American dream in 1787.

Our Founding Fathers introduced the revolutionary idea that each person's desire to pursue their idea of happiness was not self-indulgence” The Balance a financial advice site stated.
