BLYTHEWOOD – Blythewood transition students in Mr. Josh Fulmer and Mr. Dennis Ely’s classes have organized the Flames of Hope Virtual 5K run to be held in the month of November. The Flames of Hope Virtual 5K is working through the BHS Education Foundation to raise funds for students, faculty, and staff of Richland School District Two who have been impacted by the recent flooding.

“Funds raised will be directed to the Richland Two Education Foundation to support their relief efforts,” transition specialist Sarah Park said.

Furthermore, hosting the Flames of Hope Virtual 5K provides an opportunity for the students with disabilities to learn valuable job skills while changing the lives of those in the community.

“A virtual 5k is a race that can be run at any location.  You can run, walk, wheel, use a treadmill, or even bike.  You can run at your own pace wherever you like.  You can run alone, with a friend, with a group, or even with your dog! You may complete your race anytime during the month of November 2015.  Each registered participant will receive an event medal and t-shirt,” Park said.

Registration for the race is from now to November 15, and interested participants should sign up at  http://www.eventbrite.com/e/flames-of-hope-virtual-5k-tickets-19066289786 . For more information contact Sarah Park at 803-691-4090, ext. 28026 or spark@richland2.org
