Filipino President Questions Barack's "Crackdown on Drugs"

BY BREASIA DAVIS, Freshman
BLYTHEWOOD-- Filipino president, Rodrigo Duterte, insulted President Barack Obama during a speech in the Philippines Sept. 5 because President Obama questioned Duterte’s, “Crackdown on Drugs”.

Duterte led a press conference with Southeast Asian leaders.  According to CNN, Duterte claimed he has “no master except the Filipino people”

Duterte then personally attacked the US President and also insulted his mother. This whole situation was due to Obama questioning Duterte’s “Crackdown On Drugs” which led to the deaths of over 2,000 Filipino officers.

“The whole incident is very childish and immature” corrections officer, Alicia McMullen said.

Obama was so upset that he canceled the meeting the two leaders were supposed to have Thursday. People have different opinions on whether or not this action was justified.

“I do feel President Obama was justified in canceling the meeting because it is very hard to speak kindly to an individual when you feel insulted by their demeanor or their comments,” BHS math teacher Hope Reed said.

Other people are saying the altercation between Obama and Duterte was strictly Obama’s fault.

“What is going on the Philippines is not our business. Obama should learn to mind his business,” Army veteran DeAngelo Bradley said.
