What makes a Volleyball Lady Bengal

BLYTHEWOOD--According to MaxPreps,  the Lady Volleyball Bengals are ranked fourth in the state plus having a stellar record of 33-3 and in their 5A region 10-2.


English teacher and volleyball coach, Mary Hall has created one of the most renowned volleyball programs in the state.


“What makes this season different is definitely my players, ... mature groups of players staying level-headed and focused on a mission,” Hall said.  


Each player has helped further their teammates to reach their highest potential, which is evident in the team's record.



“They girls all seem to be close and know each other well,” said Pascale, a volleyball fan.


The team consist of 13 girls, who have been to many team bonding activities to continue their closeness on and off the court.


Throughout this season, Hall has instilled many qualities in the team to help them strive towards the winning.


“Teamwork, being a leader, and self-promotion and being able to operate in society because they know they have to operate in society,” Hall said.


Not only are the Bengals leaders at the court, but have shown to be leaders at school. They all have abided by the rules and succeeding in their Honors, AP and college prep classes.


“The only obstacle we have now is to beat Lexington," said Lauryn Coleman, a freshman varsity player


The Bengals have recently beat their biggest competition Lexington in 4 sets. The next match they have will Lexington will be Oct. 13.


“They play with so much passion consistently, no wonder they are a force to be reckon with” said  Pascale.


Blythewood Varsity Volleyball team has become successful through the hard work and dedication shown throughout the season.Currently, the Lady Bengals have won 2 statewide  tournaments and beat their biggest competition the region, Lexington.


This team is looking forward to go to playoffs considering how well they are doing. After all, the Lady Bengals have never won a state championships.

At this point, they are making history for the Blythewood Volleyball Program going into playoffs in November.
